Scrapbooking Wednesday

Sadly it's another night week so Tom will be home late this week. Oh wait, no, that's good news cause that means we can scrapbook again at my house this Wednesday from 8-midnight! Yay!! Anyone's welcome, just let me know if you're coming so I have enough tables set up! Brea mentioned something about doing this at her house some time, so maybe next week will be at her house! Right, Brea? You're welcome for volunteering you on the spot! I know, you love me.

A Little Surprise

Princess Eliza
Our Friend Emma
Yeah, there she goes climbing up the slide. She made it to the top but couldn't quite get up the courage to let go of the slide and grab the brown part.

My squadron playgroup went to A Little Surprise on Friday and had a great time! It's a parent supervised miniature little city for kids to play in - we got a group rate, but I think normal price is 5.50 for kids 6 months-2 and 8.50 for kids 3 and older. Brighton had a great time (I know what 10 month old is really all that hard to please) but Eliza went with us too and only came to find me once in the 2 hours we were there. The place is great and seems like a fun thing to do. Their website is http://www.alittlesurprise.net/ .

Our Standing Monster

Here are a couple videos that are really meant for the Grandparents only - they're nothing special unless you're a grandparent and then everything is special. The first one is of her growling. Brighton would always grunt when she was a couple months old, and that grunting has turned into growling. The second is of her showing off her object permanence - even though she can't see the paci anymore, she knows it's in the drawer. Then she stands a little. I've been trying to get a video of her standing, but the second she sees the camera she sits down and tries to grab the camera. Really you should only watch the first 30 seconds cause the last 30 seconds are just her playing - I thought she would put the paci back in the drawer but she didn't. Enjoy!

Now & Later

This is where I live now........

And THIS is where I'll be living in 6 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We found out tonight that our next assignment will be to Aviano Italy and we are so excited! I have to confess though, that I'm as equally excited as I am nervous, anxious and a lil bit scared even! On the one hand, I'm up for the adventure and stoked about the awesome experiences we'll be able to have and the amazing travel. On the other hand, it's an ocean away from family and friends and though we'll be able to come back and visit, what things will I have to miss out on cause I'm a bazillion miles away? I guess to make my life easier the rest of you can refrain from getting married, having babies, graduating or that other less pleasant life experience! That would definitely help. But seriously, do I fully understand what I've signed myself up for? Probably not. However, do I think we should have taken a state-side assignment because it would the "safe" thing to do? No. How could I pass up the chance to live in a foreign country? When would I ever have that opportunity again? So, I'm excited, but I'm sure I'll freak out a few times between now and mid-March when we'll probably move. That's normal, right? Well, even if it's not, we'll just pretend that it is.

Notice Anything New?

Don't you just LOVE my new background and layout? I do! A huge thanks goes to T.J. for the redecorating - she designed the whole thing! There's a link to her site on the bottom right corner if you want to check out some of her other stuff!

Where's Daddy?

Sometimes during the day Brighton will crawl over to the picture stand and talk to Daddy. She's not talking in this one, but you can hear her say "Da da".

San Diego

We had so much fun in San Diego! We took Brighton to the beach for the first time, went to Balboa Park, the zoo, toured the USS Milius, had a beach party, saw the Cabrillo National Monument and loved the whole weekend!

Cabrillo National Monument

We saw some funky stuff in the Botanical Gardens.

Japanese Friendship Garden

look at that spit!

we met up with some of our friends from Tucson at the zoo

I love roses, so while Tom was at his squadron "meeting", Brighton and I went to the Rose Garden and took tons of pictures.

After the tour of the USS Milius, we headed out to the beach. Brighton wasn't too sure about the water, it was too cold for her. She liked the sand okay until she face-planted into the sand and it stuck to the sunscreen on her face. She & I quickly went inside to clean up after that. Tom, crazy guy that he is, stayed out to play in the freezing cold water some more.

This is Brighton's reaction to the water the night we got there - needless to say she wasn't a fan. And then here she is trying to kiss AJ Wimberley, who's 4 months younger than her - she loves those younger men!

Sunday night we went to the Gaslamp Quarter and walked around. It's like the Plaza in KC, only 16 blocks instead of 9. Brighton was worn out, so she was content to just hang out in her stroller. This is my whole fish that I ordered - what was I thinking? Actually, it wasn't that bad once you got over the fish staring at you!
