We had so much fun in San Diego! We took Brighton to the beach for the first time, went to Balboa Park, the zoo, toured the USS Milius, had a beach party, saw the Cabrillo National Monument and loved the whole weekend!

I love roses, so while Tom was at his squadron "meeting", Brighton and I went to the Rose Garden and took tons of pictures.

After the tour of the USS Milius, we headed out to the beach. Brighton wasn't too sure about the water, it was too cold for her. She liked the sand okay until she face-planted into the sand and it stuck to the sunscreen on her face. She & I quickly went inside to clean up after that. Tom, crazy guy that he is, stayed out to play in the freezing cold water some more.

This is Brighton's reaction to the water the night we got there - needless to say she wasn't a fan. And then here she is trying to kiss AJ Wimberley, who's 4 months younger than her - she loves those younger men!

Sunday night we went to the Gaslamp Quarter and walked around. It's like the Plaza in KC, only 16 blocks instead of 9. Brighton was worn out, so she was content to just hang out in her stroller. This is my whole fish that I ordered - what was I thinking? Actually, it wasn't that bad once you got over the fish staring at you!

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder?

You know how they always say "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"? This is very true, UNLESS of course you're from Phoenix, and the absence was due to a weekend trip to San Diego! It was a glorious weekend, maxing out at 85 degrees! And then we came back. And now we're back to 110 and my heart is definitely NOT fonder! (Side note, I'm not saying I hate Phoenix, I love it here, I'll just love it more when it's not so blazing hot all the time.)

Excitement

We're not kidding when we say that Brighton gets all excited when she knows she's getting a bath. I have to keep the door to my bedroom closed now so she doesn't crawl in there and try to climb in the tub! Tucson

A couple weekends ago we went to Tucson to see two of our friends who had had their babies. It was so much fun!

Took me long enough

So, you know those projects that you decide to start that you're certain will only take you a couple days to finish? And then suddenly 2 months have passed and you still haven't finished said project? Yeah, did that. Well, last night I finally decided that it was time to get it done. I finished up the touch-ups and put the glaze on and just hung it up now. The frame started out all white, but I painted it the pink and browns for it to match everything else in Brighton's room. Sounded easy enough....anyways....it's done now.

Ok, so it is now 9:15 am, and my sweet baby - who is always up at 6:45 - is still not awake! So, after checking on her to make sure she was still breathing, of course I unloaded the dishwasher, did some laundry, put said laundry away, did my workout video, showered and cleaned up. Wait, no I didn't! I'm loving the quiet time so much that I'm just sitting here on the computer, being completely non-productive (unproductive, deproductive, whatever) so as not to make any noise at all!

So Janelle tagged me a couple days ago (wow, maybe even a week ago) and I totally forgot to do it, so here we go.

1. 4 years in and still madly in love with Tom (phew)

2. My teeth will fall out (don't laugh, I sometimes have nightmares where I wake up and have lost a tooth or two!)

1. Lose the baby weight (I've surpassed that window of time where it's ok cause I just had a baby)
2. Be happy no matter what assignment we get
3. Be a better friend to others and nicer to my family

3 Current Obsessions:
1. NOT reading the Twilight series (it's a matter of principle now, all my friends here are obsessed with it and I've held out for this long, I can't give in now)
2. Getting boogers out of Brighton's nose (I'm a picker, it was really bad when she had cradle cap - just wait Camille, when they have dried boogers or eye boogers, you just can't wait to dig them out)
3. Hmm, apparently I need another obsession

3 facts about yourself:
1. I love looking at people blogs or websites or whatever from high school to compare our lives
2. Although I talk a big game, I really don't know everything (I just have to pretend to keep up with Tom)
3. I think Michael Phelps is hot, but only when he has his goggles and swim cap on (and suit too, get your mind out of the gutter Becca!). When he takes them off, he looks way too dorky - his ears and nose are too big and his smile is goofy.

Garage Sale Postponed

Sadly, Tina's grandpa passed away, so we will postpone the garage sale since she's on her way to Utah.

ABC Quiet Books

I make these ABC Quiet Books for Sacrament (and other reverent times) and wondered if anyone would be interested? They cost $25 and are easily personalized. In fact, a few of the pages are personalized (Family, Daddy, Mommy, You, Eternal, among others) and so I'll need a few pictures from you. Here are some samples, I'm sorry if they're not clear, I originally made them with one program and am now upgrading them to a new program. They're really basic, the pages are printed on cardstock and then laminated (so babies can suck on them to their hearts content, little ones can pull and tear, and the occasional pen or marker can't damage them either) and bound with 3 rings. If you'd like, I can make the scriptures at the bottom of the page simpler for younger ones, or not if the book is for an older child. So, if you'd like one, let me know and we'll start going over what pictures I'd need from you and what exactly you'd like.

Garage Sale

Tina and I are having a garage sale this weekend (Sat. Aug. 9), so if anyone has anything that they'd like to put in, please let me know by WEDNESDAY and have it here FRIDAY.

Also, we need some tables and a couple big fans to run in the garage. If you have any that we can borrow, let me know please! Thank you!
